Some weeks I like the articles, and other weeks I love them! This week, it's the latter.

LaRae Quy offers her take on Imposter Syndrome and what to do about it. Harry M. Kraemer reminds us of his value-based leadership principles. Ken Downer helps us overcome adversity with a riveting tail of his recent ironman experience. Todd Ordal helps us tune in to culture and fit, and Diana Peterson-More offers one of the best personal reflection articles I've encountered in a long while. Thanks to these great professionals for sharing their wisdom!

Cheers,

Art

PS: Our next Leadership Caffeine Jam Session is set for Friday, November 11 at noon central. The focus is on: Succeeding in Managing Virtual Teams. I'll bring my ideas and experiences and you bring yours and we'll grow smarter together!

Never attended a Jam Session with me? No pitches, no slides, plenty of interaction, and ample ideas to take away and put to work!

5 Articles to Make You Think and Inspire You to Act

  • I suspect LaRae's advice will resonate with many. It did with me. From LaRae Quy: Here are Five Ridiculous Reasons You Feel Like an Imposter at Work. She wonderfully pays off each ridiculous reason with great guidance!
  • I'm never a fan of piling on someone...especially from a distance. Harry M. Kraemer's article: Leadership Lessons from Liz Truss's Downfall is excellent not because of his perspective on this short-lived tenure of the recent prime minister of the UK but rather because he highlights the key components of his Values Based Leadership model. Read the article for the goal in that model. Via Kellogg Insight.
  • Every month, The Leadership Development Carnival (sponsored by Weaving Influence) generates a fabulous newsletter featuring many of my favorite thinkers and writers. I'm honored to be included in this great mix. This month, the Carnival is hosted by Diana Peterson-More on her website. I'm pointing you to her thought-provoking article: To Be or Not to Be: That is the Question?  I love this on many levels. And here's a pointer to this treasure trove of great articles via the latest Leadership Development Carnival!
  • Ken Downer channels his trials, tribulations, and experiences in the recent Ironman event in Kona, HI.  I love the guidance here for overcoming adversity. Get Curious: How to Overcome Adversity with Two Simple Words.
  • Excellent from CEO Coach Todd Ordal: Aligning with Company Culture--Racehorse or Show Horse? Feel like an outlier in your organization? It might be the culture.

What I'm Reading Next: When McKinsey Comes to Town--The Hidden Influence of the World's Most Powerful Consulting Firm. From seeing and reading some of the pre-release hype, there's no doubt the authors have an agenda. I confess to being curious though on what they perceive is beneath the veneer of this powerful organization.
